CCAA’s Demo Artist Jan. 25: Shannon Grissom

Our next CCAA meeting is Jan. 25, 2021 at 4 pm. We look forward to our Zoom meeting with Shannon Grissom and “Paint Over It!” Liberate paintings that just didn’t quite work out, by giving them new life with the palette knife.

Shannon is an award-winning artist, author, songwriter, and television producer, whose mission is to support others on their own creative journey.

Shannon wrote:

I was a late bloomer. I didn’t discover painting until I was 33! Once I finally realized I wanted to be a professional artist, I was hooked and driven, I’d get up early each day to paint for a few hours before the start of my day job. This demanding schedule was worth the effort. By 1999, I was able to leave my day job and began to do my art as a full-time business.

At 44, I began production of the television series, ”Give Your Walls Some Soul”. The inspirational how-to painting show grew from an audience of one station to over 50 stations across the country. It was seen in over 10 million households, winning numerous awards. It is still airing today.

At 46, I published my children’s book Monkey Made of Sockies. From that book came a line of licensed merchandise, a coloring book, and the popular Monkey Made of Sockies golf club headcovers that have been carried on tour by several LPGA pros.

Today I am an award-winning artist, television producer/host, author, and songwriter. My artwork is licensed and sold globally, and I just launched an online art school “Painterly.” I am grateful that I pursued my passions and make it my mission to support others on their own creative journey.

Unfortunately we have to cancel our on-location meetings following directives from Monterey County in response to Covid19.  Our demos will be “on-line,” as a live Zoom call.  Members will be notified of the Zoom link. A recording of the call will be available to the public on the website as it is made available.

During non-Covid concerns, the Central Coast Art Association meets 6:30-8 pm at the El Estero Park, with a meet & greet time until 6:45 when announcements & the demonstration by the guest artist begins. Meeting/demonstration ends approximately at 8 pm.   777 Pearl St (next to Dennis the Menace Park), Monterey, the fourth Monday of each month (please check for holiday schedules). Attendance is free and open to the public.
