CCAA’s Demo Artist June 28: Rebecca Tillman-Young, Pastels, Portraits

Our next CCAA meeting is June 28, 2021 at 4 pm with Rebecca Tillman-Young.*

Rebecca Tillman-Young will be presenting: drawing the head, by going over the Loomis method of constructing a head, and how she uses that as a base for beginning a portrait and achieving a likeness. Portraits are always a challenging subject, but knowing how to begin and set yourself up for success can make a huge difference. Having a process to follow means that, with practice, this is a skill anyone can learn.

Rebecca is an artist living and working in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in magazines, TV shows, and gallery shows across the country.

She began her career as a portrait artist back in high school, when she’d draw friends and family members as gifts or just for fun.

Rebecca’s teaching career began around the same time, with a small class of 4th and 5th graders at an after-school program.

She went to college in Texas and got her degree in Painting, beginning a long-term focus on portrait and figure painting.

Since then, she’s gone on to paint and draw hundreds of portraits, as well as to help thousands of students to draw and paint more lifelike portraits through her online courses: Lifelike Portraits in 21 Days, a pencil drawing course, Oil Painting Fundamentals, an intro to painting course, and Procreate Portraits in 21 Days, a digital painting course.

Our demos will be “on-line,” as a live Zoom call.  *Members will be notified of the Zoom link or email for the link: centralcoastartassociation@gmail.com  *A Zoom recording of the call will be available to the public below.

During times with non-Covid concerns, the Central Coast Art Association meets 6:30-8 pm at the El Estero Park, with a meet & greet time until 6:45 when announcements & the demonstration by the guest artist begins. Meeting/demonstration ends approximately at 8 pm.   777 Pearl St (next to Dennis the Menace Park), Monterey, the fourth Monday of each month (please check for holiday schedules). Attendance is free and open to the public.
