Lonnie Horne
I have loved art ever since I can remember while growing up in southwest Iowa. I originally studied drawing and painting, and also completed a couple of murals. I went into drafting work because of my love of drawing and later became a technical illustrator. After further study, I became an engineer and worked in quality assurance.
In my former work, I was confined to a rigid format. Now I enjoy the exploration of mixing color and composition in capturing the changing light and the natural beauty and power of the central coast. I am at a point in my life where I have the time to pursue what I love to do.
Prior to moving to Carmel, I painted with Lawrence Kurshner, Richard Perri and The Half Moon Bay Plein air painters. I’ve further broadened my skills by participating in workshops with Bill Davidson, Brian Blood, Bruce Katz, Tim Horn and Warren Chang.
