Diana Vernon
Lifelong artist from childhood, born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula, inspired by the natural beauty in nature. I have always been drawn to patterns created by light, the colors and shapes that intrigued me; always dabbling in crafts and painting but mainly pursuing drawing as my medium of choice.
My childhood best friend’s father was an artist who encouraged me as well as many instructors during my school years. I chose to defer my art major after 2 years and sought a career in Occupational Therapy. I have now retired from clinical work I am diving back into my passion for creating.
My main mediums are graphite, oils and acrylics. Currently studying oil painting, subjects including roses, sea life, and still life. Pencil/graphite works previously done are mainly of animals where I love to explore their shape and demeanor in the light. Early paintings were abstract, drawings more realistic.
