I’ve been an aspiring artist my whole life. Art lessons at an early age. Classes in high school and college. Classes with awards in UCLA Landscape Architecture School.

Art as a career path? I always felt the pressure to earn a good living. Thus a 53 year career in high tech. Art on the side to maintain my sanity. Drawing, stained glass, wood carving, martial arts, gardening.

Retired from tech, finally I’m pursuing my art. I started with woodcarving. I love it, but it’s slow. I was doing a relief carving of a green sea turtle when my wife remarked she’d really love to see it in color. I liked the idea, but I was afraid I’d ruin all that carving work. So I did a wood etching to match and went at it with Inktense watercolor and finished it off with colored pencil. Since then I haven’t put the pencils down.

My focus is nature. No political statements or great philosophical pondering in my pieces. Just an encouragement to love beauty and immerse yourself in the nourishment of nature.
