Filipp Kashirtsev

My name is Filipp Kashirtsev and I am a film photographer based in the Monterey Bay area. I have been taking photos on film for over 10 years.

I consider myself to be a science-oriented person. Film photography is my artistic medium of choice because it’s rooted in physics and chemistry. It is an artistic medium that allows me to feel connected to the moving parts of my camera, while physically capturing a moment in time. Releasing the shutter, the slap of the mirror, the click of the aperture blades, the lens bending the light, burning the scene onto film. These are the things that are good.

Photography allows me to capture things I would otherwise struggle to communicate to others verbally. It gives me great satisfaction to accurately represent my visions and I invite you to experience them for yourself.
